Another member makes it to the family: Deejay Ozka

David Nizet has been around in the Belgian underground techno scene for ages, we mean early nineties. He was part of the 6th Sense collective during the mid 90s with releases on Dave Angels Rotation and the legendary Belgian label Re-load Records. Despite a Detroitish nostalgic touch in his productions, small modern minimalist influences gently creep in to all his tracks to turn them into brilliant pieces of never outdated, or should we say evergreen, techno.
With past releases on Aesthetik, Mowar, Labrynth and played by Marcel Fengler, Markus Suckut, Matt O’Brien, Jamie Behan, … (the list is too long actually), he’s definitely up there with the big ones.

“Grey Lines” is a brilliant dark nerve-racking track with groove that will definitely set the dancefloor on fire. Beware, this killer will change dancing people at 6 am into a bunch of zombies.

“No Limiter” translates Davids feeling for music. There are no limits. This tracks grabs you from the beginning till the end with its minimalistic changes in the arrangement and an extraordinary synth you’ve never heard before.

Mr. Mau’s remix of “No Limiter” shifts the track up another gear and aims straight for the dancefloor. its aggressive but sophisticated and original arrangement makes you scream “dance while you still can”.

It looks like were are becoming a Dutch centered label. Remixes by Jeroen Search from The Netherlands and a new Belgian Producer signs on Orbis Records. We couldn’t be more proud!

Nico G., born in 1980, is a known producer in the Belgian Underground scene. His style? well… just Nico! His love for acid, electro & ambient music and passion for hardware results in stunning dark tracks that gives us goosebumps. Give the man a 808, a TB303 and a Juno and he’ll deliver you a rough and warm track with his typical style of arrangement & sound. Amazing!

Jeroen needs no introduction. He did his part again & delivered 2 stunning remixes!If you like acid with a twist of hypnotic synths in a brilliant arrangement, you have to get this release!

Support as always.

The Manchurian Candidate is seriously mental and you are immediately absorbed by its dissonant waves. This is a very deep track that leads to a kind of meditative state… it really takes me far away from Planet Earth. This one is absolutely brilliant Dries ! Love it !

The assignment is raw and nervous. Really interesting the way you can keep a tune captivating from start to end with so little elements… and it proves again that a reduced toolbox can give birth to the best structures. Serious techno killer !

Execute and Disappear is another dark tune. Like if you’d have to go through a suffocating tunnel full of small sinister creatures and you never see the end of it. Hypnotic and mental piece that could be described in one single word: Pressure !

Jeroen is known for his typical style of recording tracks in one take. Doing all the edits live whilst recording is not the most usual way of doing it nowadays, but doing it for as long as he has been producing music, he got quite skilled at it. His sound can be described as warm, deep and above honest due the hardware he uses. Always trying to get the maximum out of a minimum setup of equipment means he pushed himself to be creative and never to give up. Jeroen’s releases are on the top shelf of every DJ who loves the true uncompromising sound of hypnotic & stripped down techno.

Chaotic Terrain is the stripped track you always dreamed about but no one ever managed to make. Manifest is the pearl that finally sees the light it deserves like a flower awakening on a early spring morning. Untold is a raw but excellent floor track which only Jeroen could make. Beside these tracks, label owner Mr. Mau adds the untold whispering dreamy words to the untold track.

Orbis Records, that was just launched at the end of september this year, took off with a good start.
After the first release by Mr. Mau, we felt it was time to unleash the second chapter of a story that has just begun.

Marc Trakker, born in Rennes, France in 1983 encountered electronic music at the age of 13. Originally interested in trance-goa and hardcore, he gradually turned to house music before settling on techno. His main influences center mainly on the Detroit-Chicago sound and the work of Jeff Mills. His music, a subtle mix of styles ranging from Techno (minimal, hard, deep, bangin’, abstract and atmospheric sounds) to Detroit Electro style, offers a unique rawness of sound which delivers explosive sets!

As Orbis Records stands for no limits, it’s time to prove it! This release is the total package of deep dark minimal music, the harder side of techno and even soundscapism, the total representation of Orbis Records !

“Entity”: Love it or hate it but for the true hypnotic lovers, maybe a future classic?

“Orbit”: This only needs one sentence: The touch of X-102 in the early days.

“Behind the planet”: simply brilliant soundscapism that drives you right into space!

“Behind the planet” is accompanied by a redefinition from Mr. Mau. This time Mau unleashes his deepest side and takes you on a trip where you can’t even find the planet anymore.

in just two editions, it has become good news when you get the late Orbis Promos. I love the galatic aproach to techno in these new release, from the deep and abstract Behind The Planet (I have specially enjoyed Mr Mau’s remix), till the kind of hard techno distorted drums on Orbit; specially remarking my favourite track in these release: Entity wich I have found very hypnotic, dark and deep as the music I love the most.

An EP that covers different forms of techno keeps it interesting, good job. I prefer ‘Behind The Planet’, and especially Mr. Mau’s version. The title of the track says it all: dark spaced out techno.

Ozka (BE – Aesthetik Records)

What shocks me the most (positively of course  is the “engaged” feeling of this release … i mean it takes no prisoner, this is really a personal and unique sound with big big balls … oh yes 

Orbit is definitely a killer… pure madness i think… reminds me of the incredible waveform transmission volume 1 album by the master Jeff Mills.
Heavy bassdrum and a great bass evolution through the whole track… also even the “distorted/saturated” feeling seems totally under control and never become disgusting (where lots of other artists/tracks would do)… really love this one and what i appreciate the most is the fact it comes out in 2010 and follows no current shitty trend at all !!!

Entity… once again very personal track… i can feel like the artist is totally free of any constraint(s)… a very deeeeep and mental track… that synth sound is really hypnotic… i can’t even find words to let you know my feeling about that tune… yeah i think “mental” is the word…

Behind the planet is… intriguing ???! …. is it the word ?

Mr. Mau’s Redefinition? It’s just a pure sonic trip!
This is an incredible ep to me and deserves a lot of exposure… but i’m sure Orbis Records doesn’t do it for fame or money. The main center shall be the music itself.

Orbis Records is probably one of those underground labels Belgium never had until now. The label will provide dark, deep and stripped down hypnotic techno music as wide as the box can get.

‘Thinking outside the box is our priority’ is possibly the most used sentence when it comes to label descriptions but we have no limits. Our priority is bringing deep, hypnotic and stripped down music that will please the partygoer as well as the record collector.

Our first release contains four tracks, created by Mr. Mau, that you can let loose on a crowd late at night.

Mr. Mau (Dries Bultynck) is a Belgian producer who knows what he wants. He has been playing his part in the Belgian underground techno scene a long time now and remains one of the few deejays that is still loyal to his sound: Dark, deep and hypnotic with a personal touch.

His mission is to constantly innovate himself, his deejay sets as well as his releases… and that will show in this release. Those that know his work on both Forteana and Labrynth Records, will get another release true to his sound. Familiar but again, different.

“The Chained Rythm” is a pure dancefloor corker. Dark and straightforward.

“When All Is Left” drags you into a higher state of consciousness and knocks you out of your rhythm at the right moment making you forget what planet you were from.

“They Knew What Was Coming” is the most experimental track of the release. A hypnotic melody combined with an offbeat rhythm accompanied by a deep bassline make the big picture a breathtaking track.

At last we have a very handy loop that you just have to try out: “What If”
